Merlin is an old wise witch who lives in a log cabin along with his archimid owl.

 The most famous of all wizards is perhaps Merlin, 

Merlin wears a black robe, 

a pointed hat and always wears an old cane,

 Merlin has a white beard as snow.

Merlin was initially taken as a prophet who as he evolved 

and grew his powers, 

became a great magician, until he became the trusted person of King Arthur.
